Disney Lounge Lovers, Live It Up!

Disney Lounge Lovers, Live It Up!

Not everyone who travels to Disney wants to spend their free time in the theme parks. Some crave a freshly-shaken martini and a hip crowd. Others prefer a cold beer and a delicious appetizer or light meal. Just about every area of Walt Disney World has a great lounge, but the Epcot resorts really shine because there\'s something for everybody. Here are just a few of my favorites.

The Crew\'s Cup Lounge at Disney\'s Yacht Club has long been a popular choice. A cozy seaport-style lounge, it has a nice selection of beers, the typical Disney cocktails, and a sporting event playing on the large screen TV. Fun and lighthearted, it\'s the perfect casual meeting place for pre- or after-dinner drinks. Appetizers are available such as buffalo chicken breast nuggets, honey-ginger chicken wings, or spinach dip, but think about ordering in from the next-door Yachtsman Steakhouse if you like more substantial fare. The better choices include rich lobster bisque, delicious searedMaine diver scallops, or grilled beef sirloin with peppercorn-brandy sauce and a side of yummy creamed spinach.

The snug Belle Vue Lounge at Disney\'s Boardwalk Inn has the nostalgic feel of a 1930s living room. Settle into one of the overstuffed chairs and relax to old-time broadcasts and sentimental music with the likes of Benny Goodman playing from vintage radios. Or while away the time with one of several board games. The biggest plus is balcony seating overlooking a side view of the Boardwalk andCrescentLake. As dusk settles, order up a specialty cocktail or a single-malt scotch, head outside to the balcony, and watch the Boardwalk come alive.

The Bluezoo Lounge at the Walt Disney World Dolphin has to be one of the dreamiest places inOrlando. Chic chocolate brown leather booths, mango orange accents, and copper lighting set the stage for a sophisticated evening on the town. Sip an exotic martini and just savor the action. When hunger strikes, belly up to the raw bar for some daily-harvested seafood like the giant shellfish platter loaded down with lobster, oysters, clams, shrimp, ceviche, and various dipping sauces. Or choose a tasty barbacoa flatbread topped with spicy beef short rib, jack cheese, and cilantro lime crème fraiche.

The Walt Disney World Swan\'s Il Mulino Lounge is an ever-so-happening spot frequented by a very spiffy crowd. Adorned in shades of tangerine and chocolate with a super cool illuminated bar and hip cocktail waitresses, it\'s the hot place at Disney. My favorite appetizer is arancini, lovely rice balls stuffed with ground meat perched on a bed of tasty marinara. Or the Insaccati Misti, a beautiful platter of Italian meats, cheeses, and cherry vinegar peppers and sun -dried tomatoes accompanied by a bold glass of Italian red. Just off the bar is an exterior courtyard with a sparkling fountain, the ideal place to enjoy the balmyFlorida weather and a fine cigar from the humidor.

If you want a real 'blast' of a time head down the hallway to Kimonos for nightly karaoke and delectable sushi. Dark teakwood, rice paper overhead lighting, and ornate kimonos adorning the walls add to the drama of this jewel box of a bar. The sake, cocktails, and wine are excellent, and you\'ll love the house specialties such as Asian hors d\'oeuvres, gyoza, sea bass miso-yaki, andKobe beef and duck satay--perfect for spur-of-the-moment dining. More people make for a merrier crowd here when it comes to karaoke so don\'t be put off if the place looks swamped. Just squeeze in somewhere and join the fun.

Whatever your preference, lounge lovers, you\'ll find great ways to live it up at the Epcot Resorts.
